Why do so many of your posts start with Re: ?

Mass shootings are a parts-per-billion risk per year in the USA.
Street drugs are far, far more deadly.

I wonder if there have been studies of factors that the shooters have
in common. Drugs? Owning cats? Video games? Prior incarceration?
Genetics?

The UN chief should be more concerned about the hundreds of millions
of kids that die from disease and malnutrition in poor countries.

The answer is there is no answer. People become powder kegs, and when the right spark comes along they go off.

It\'s reasonable to ask if drugs or video games or cats are the sparks.

By my understanding most drug related deaths result from turf wars between the sellers.

If you want to get into pharmaceuticals, especially antidepressants, there\'s no question some drugs make people kind of loony. But pharmaceuticals, video games, violent action films, and things like that are big business, so the political answer to your question is a resounding no.

When you get into right wing talk shows, the popular belief is there\'s no question they influence and induce maniacs to actualize horrendous mass killings, so the political answer is a resounding yes. Nancy Pelosi definitely thinks so. She btw is now under suspicion for abusing some inside information to tip off Paul to sell his google stocks

No. In San Franciso about 700 drug users die per year. There are few
deaths from dealer conflicts.

I asked about causal studies, not what to do. Sure, drugs and
homelessness and politics are giant industries.

Sayfullo Saipov was convicted of murder for using a truck to kill eight people on a Manhattan bike path in 2017, in the first federal death penalty trial of U.S. President Joe Biden\'s administration.

I\'ve read numerous reports saying drug overdoses kill about 100,000 per year in the U.S.
I\'m not sure though if the reports were just. mimicking the first one.
The reality show The First 48 follows homicide detectives mainly in Tulsa, OK. Drugs are at
the bottom of a lot of the killings.

Wasn\'t the discussion about gun deaths? You\'re talking about overdose or some other consequence of illegal drug abuse.

I\'m sure there are tons of studies investigating causal links for mass killings and violence.

Mass shootings are a parts-per-billion risk per year in the USA.

But you have a lot more of them than other advanced industrial countries. Better gum control laws seem to help a lot.

> Street drugs are far, far more deadly.

In part because you go in for a war on drugs, where more civilised countries go in for harm reduction.

If you let the medical system provide maintenance doses to registered addicts fewer of them die, and drug delaers are less interested in creating addicts.

> I wonder if there have been studies of factors that the shooters have in common. Drugs? Owning cats? Video games? Prior incarceration? Genetics?

They do have one obvious factor in common - access to guns.Effective gun control` reduces that

> The UN chief should be more concerned about the hundreds of millions of kids that die from disease and malnutrition in poor countries.

He\'s pretty concerned about that. The UN does a lot to help there too. Not enough, but resources are finite.
